As the New York Marathon approaches – I am reminded of what a truly awesome experience I had running the 40th New York Marathon. Not only did I get a BQ time, I was inspired for the charity I was running for — LIVESTRONG.
With the help of my family and friends, I was able to raise over $5,000 for the Livestrong foundation. And – what a feeling it was to dedicate 26.2 miles to the people in my life and other friends who have been affected by cancer. Every mile, every step was for them … not me.
In spite of all that has happened with Lance in the recent weeks, I am truly grateful for the foundation he created for cancer research. Doping or not – one thing is for sure – he has touched millions of people worldwide through his foundation. In my opinion, that is much bigger than any TDF victory.
